Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to our blog. July 15, 2017, our brother Luke passed away. After ten years clean, he sadly succumbed to his heroin addiction and overdosed. August 19, 2017 would have been Luke’s 34th birthday. There is a space in all of our hearts that will be missing Luke on this day.  We propose that we use our heartbreak to better this world!

Here is the idea: Pick an activity from the following link in remembrance of Luke:
https://august-nineteenth.blogspot.com/2017/08/ideas-to-honor-luke.html

Work together or on your own to do one or several of these on or around August 19th.  Remember to keep Luke, our family, and all the drug addicted in your prayers. Then, kindly email us any thoughts or pictures you have from that day so we can all see what was done. After we receive them, we will post them to this blog, so check back.  Feel free to share this! This world could use more love and kindness and Luke would be honored for us to do it in his name.
Use either of the following email addresses:

Again, please feel free to share this on social media or otherwise! Thank you so much for taking time to remember our brother and make the world a better place.

  2. What an amazing idea! Luke helped so many on his journey, brought laughter and happiness and I will miss his presence. Although I did not know him long, or as well as so many others, his visits always brought with him a bright spot in any day! It makes many hearts happy to know that you are helping others in spite of your great loss.

  3. I spent a lot of time with Luke in community, I saw him enter community and I spent time with him when he came back from the Missions. I enjoyed our time together in Saluzzo, Italy. When I was down, Luke's personality and smile always gave me energy! I'll miss him! Lately on the way to work, I pray the Rosary for him, his Fiancé and her daughter. It's hard, I'm still shook up, but Gods wisdom is beyond our understanding, I just know that he's in a better place!

  4. I met Luke thru SpiritLife when my own son passed away from a heroin overdose. He was such an inspiration to me thru a very difficult time. Together we worked to bring "Irish Rowe Day" to SpiritLife in memory of my son, Jeremy Rowe. I will definitely participate in your program as you honor his life. I hope that everyone who reads this will also help my family to honor Jeremy on November 12th, "Irish Rowe Day" as we also try to help those addicted to heroin. Love to you and your family.

Hi, I'm Grace, the 7th sibling in the Williams family. I thought I'd share a little of what we did yesterday in honor of Luke. Soon we will post some of the awesome things other people did as well!  I started off Luke's birthday in the Chicago O'Hare airport, on my way back from visiting my sister Laura. We were waiting for our flight when midnight came, and I got a chance to go off by myself for awhile and talk to Luke. After I was home, my Dad, Mom, sister Erica and sister Liz came to pick me up, stopping first to take drinks and snacks to the police station.                                                 Then, we stopped by St. Bernard Church with some Snickers for the altar servers (we tried not to take too many for ourselves!). We p...
